POET'S CORNER
A haiku is a type of short-form poem that originated in Japan. Haiku poems are typically written in three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. They are unrhymed, but some poets may choose to rhyme the first and third lines for added challenge. Haiku poems often focus on nature or the seasons, and emphasize simplicity, intensity, and directness of expression.)
MELT LOVE
Brackish water flows. Two doves touching beaks
The curb is a small river. Mother Earth promotes their love.
Snow melt has begun. We could show the same.
SPA DAY A WALK
A white birch limb sways. The same walk daily,
Arctic wind removes branches. And yet each day brings new things.
A new look for trees. Open eyes and heart.
BREAKFAST RABBIT
Golden syrup pours The fearless rabbit
As if from sugar maples, Runs across snow covered lawns,
Being tapped today. Seeking scattered corn.
HARM
A dog bite hurts me.
Harsh words feel like the dog bite.
But they rarely heal.
A lie will fester,
Faster than an infection,
With lasting results.
A pain increases,
When it feels like forever.
Pain is part of life.
When harm is done,
Forgiveness is offered free
To those who listen.
