Collision
COLLISION = to strike or dash together; act of colliding; crash; an encounter between particles resulting in exchange or transformation of energy
QUESTION: Have you experienced a transformation of energy?
STORY: I learned a very valuable skill of experiencing the transformation of energy during my 5 year Art Apprenticeship with Jan Valentin Saether (1981-1986). I learned a whole new way of seeing. Typically we look at the world and see things we can name. In this drawing which I did in 1986 - you see a female model sitting with one leg bent at the knee, the other leg kinda draped over the edge of the model stand and one arm resting on the model stand. I learned with Jan, to see in a new, abstract way. I began to let go of seeing things I can name. I began to see edges as vitally important expressions of Energy. Edges are where LIGHTS AND DARKS come together and exchange energy. For example, see the collision of the darkest dark smashing the woman’s upper arm from behind and colliding with the edge of her upper arm which is filled with very bright light. Engage the artist in you! It is time for us all to see more abstractly and to experience the energy of nature. Learn more at my drawing classes: https://www.drawingtogether.com/drawing-classes
QUOTES
“To experience the world abstractly requires an unlearning. You begin to see the world on nature’s own raw terms without cultural glasses.” ~ Jan Valentin Saether, Master Artist and Gnostic Priest
“Our epoch is a time of tragic collision between matter and spirit and of the downfall of the purely material world view.” ~ Wassily Kandinsky
“It had become clear to me, in a flash of illumination, that for me the only possible goal was psychiatry. Here alone the two currents of my interest could flow together and in a united stream dig their own bed. Here was the empirical field common to biological and spiritual facts, which I had everywhere sought and nowhere found. Here at last was the place where the collision of nature and spirit became a reality.” ~ Carl Jung;
