Oppose
OPPOSE = to be opposite or against something; to accuse, question, interrogate; to resist, rival; contradict, state an opposing point of view
QUESTION: Who opposes you?
STORY: My sister is 21 months younger. As we grew up we held opposite points of view on so many things. We slammed doors so much that the molding broke. When we were in high school, mom sat us down with her at the dining room table. She said that we both were very good, beautiful people but we were very different. And she loved us both. Even in our elder years my sister and I have opposing points of view about the weather, politics, religion, healthcare, technology - you name it. We do love each other, thank goodness! How about you? Does someone in your life have an opposing point of view? Hah! I’ll bet!
QUOTES
“One must dig deeply into opposing points of view in order to know whether your own position remains defensible. Iron sharpens iron.” ~ Francis Collins
“We must develop as quickly as possible technologies that make possible a direct connection between brain and computer, so that artificial brains contribute to human intelligence rather than opposing it.” ~ Stephen Hawking
“I've always felt that a person's intelligence is directly reflected by the number of conflicting points of view he can entertain simultaneously on the same topic.” ~ Abigail Adams
“What if I told you there is no difference between us? The things that outwardly divide us disappear when we look inward, because we’re all made of the exact same divine, perfect, renewable resource.” ~ Tabitha A. Scott
EXERCISE
STOP.
Relax.
Bring to mind someone in your life who opposes you in some way.
Get your pen and paper and play with words or lines and squiggles expressing how the two of you are together in life - each with your own unique point of view - AND - that both of you are made of the same Divine Energy.
