Freedom in a new year

We open a new year, 2025, confronted by persistent challenges in the political and social spheres. The social aspect of our lives is rapidly transforming, especially for young people whose modes of communication are light years removed from those of their parent generation.

If getting information quickly or sharing perfect images of ourselves could deliver us to enlightenment there would be a lot less confusion in the world. As it stands, the proliferation of images and information - much of which requires serious attention to validate - has not made us wiser. If anything it has made many of us frightened, as has the emergent fluidity around gender and social norms.

Around the world governments are changing shape as we watch and a collection of humanitarian crises demand mankind’s concerted attention. We are not mustering the resources we need to save the lives of millions of people suffering food insecurity, and we cannot seem to find the means for ending violent conflicts that go on and on.

Closer to home the workplace will never be the same, and individuals in the knowledge-worker arena are seriously challenged by automated systems that will require pro-active re-training.

Despite all of the above there is every reason to welcome this New Year. The inevitability of time passing is a factor, of course. But beyond that the challenge to each individual person to understand their true nature is no different than it has been for generations before. The changing forms by which we know our journey do not alter the journey itself.

In our classes Prosperos students learn methods for seeing through the claims of the material experience. These methods are based on Ontology, the science of Being, which expresses as wholeness which can be called forth under any conditions or circumstances. This understanding develops implacably as each student takes the “sense testimony” of their everyday life and applies Ontological principles to reveal an ever-present source that cannot be weighed, measured, touched, but which reveals itself unmistakably to the dedicated student.

From the perspective of Ontology the challenges I have outlined above are mis-statements of the Reality of Being, and they represent an opportunity, each in its own way, to draw forth unexpected resources and talents from a boundless source. We start in our own world with our own questions. As we persist, and as more and more people persist, the seemingly intractable problems of our collective life can be solved.

From the perspective of Ontology we know that mankind is not fated or bound up by the conditioning of history but that we have the capacity to meet each challenge with intelligence and with integrity.

The light of liberty exists where it always has lived - deep in the awareness of each and every person. It illuminates the untouchable freedom that comes from knowing that you are spiritual being and not a material object with a material history.

So, welcome the coming year, 2025. Unexpected breakthroughs in your personal journey and in our collective life are awaiting revelation.
