QUESTION: Are you listening to the Still, Small Voice Within?

STORY: We each are unique! Yes we each are special in how we sit, walk, talk, smile - how we sense things (see, hear, smell, taste, touch) and how we process information about the world around us. The world around us appears to be separate from us - and - it is important for us to know that there are other worlds within us. One inner world is our unconscious mind (our memories, prejudices, biases and ignorance). Our unconscious mind constructs the way we experience our outer world. A different inner world is our INNATE SELF that lives in the center of our BEING. Some call it Soul. Some call it Consciousness. Some call it a moral compass - or the still, small voice living in the center of our BEING. Whatever you call it - INNATE SELF is always available - if you listen. Right now you may be dealing with an issue or problem in your life and you might be asking yourself, “how am I to move forward?” If you are ready to do the work of gently LISTENING to the still, small voice that lives within you - you might be willing to explore a very simple, child-like way to listen and draw out a response from the still, small voice! In my drawing class we listen to the Still, Small Voice Within by using our non-dominant hand. QUOTE

“The human voice can never reach the distance that is covered by the still small voice of conscience. ~ Mahatma Gandhi

“Through pride we are ever deceiving ourselves. But deep down below the surface of the average conscience a still, small voice says to us, something is out of tune.” ~ Carl Jung

“My hope for my children must be that they respond to the still, small voice of God in their own hearts.” ~ Andrew Young

EXERCISE

STOP.

Sit quietly.

Assume an erect posture.

Sense the breath.

Sit calmly and listen to an issue or problem that concerns you.

Notice how your inner world feels about this problem. Get your pen and paper and use your “other” hand, to write words or draw lines expressing what the still, small voice deep within you says about this issue.

Move forward into your day listening and becoming friends with the still, small voice within you.
