POET'S CORNER
HAIKU
(Dharma name: Satya)
(A haiku is a type of short-form poem that originated in Japan. Haiku poems are typically written in three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. They are unrhymed, but some poets may choose to rhyme the first and third lines for added challenge. Haiku poems often focus on nature or the seasons, and emphasize simplicity, intensity, and directness of expression.)
SUNRISE
(also known as Upside Down 7-5-7)
Pink bleeds past a dark blue sky,
Crimson horizon.
Day break in technicolour.
A SINGLE BLOOM
A yellow jonquel
pushes to the light above.
Beauty will be seen.
KNOWLEDGE
One book too many
makes the backpack sag with weight.
This is not learning.
I REMEMBER BASHO
Rocky road blisters
make my tor purple with pain.
Better shoes needed.
MOVEMENT
When wind is blowing,
the wind moves and my mind moves--
Which of them is true?
